Church of England Calls for Action on Global Christian Persecution

London, UK – The Church of England has launched a new initiative to raise awareness about the plight of persecuted Christians around the world. The Church is encouraging its members to participate in various events and prayer campaigns to show solidarity with those facing persecution.

This year, the annual Red Wednesday campaign, organized by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), focused on the specific challenges faced by Christian women and girls, who are often targets of violence, forced conversion, and sexual exploitation.

A recent report by ACN, Persecuted and Forgotten? highlights the increasing severity of persecution against Christians worldwide. The report documents a range of abuses, including violence, imprisonment, and discrimination.

The Church of England is urging the UK government to take stronger action to protect persecuted Christians abroad. This includes increased diplomatic efforts and humanitarian aid.

Bishop Philip Mounstephen, who chaired the Independent Review of Christian Persecution, emphasized the urgent need to address this global issue. He highlighted the importance of prayer and advocacy in supporting those who suffer for their faith.

By participating in these initiatives, the Church of England aims to raise awareness, mobilize support, and advocate for the rights of persecuted Christians worldwide.
