Islamabad: On December 6, 2024, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom – Pakistan organized a remarkable event titled “Empowering Diversity Through Art” at the Anarkali Facade of Lok Virsa, Islamabad.
The evening was a beautiful celebration of art’s power to promote understanding, foster connections, and highlight the richness of cultural diversity.
The event began with welcome remarks by Ms. Birgit Lamm, Head of Country Office FNF Pakistan, followed by an inspiring keynote address by H.E. Alfred Grannas, Ambassador of German Embassy Islamabad. He spoke about the meaningful connections between Germany and Pakistan, emphasizing the role of art in bridging divides.
A stunning classical dance performance by Sheema Kermani left the audience mesmerized. Her graceful expressions and movements symbolized the cultural richness and inclusivity that art represents.
This was followed by a thought-provoking discussion on “Shaping Relations, Bridging Gaps Through Art,” featuring Sheema Kermani, Nigar Nazar, and Saif Samejo, moderated by the renowned Arieb Azhar.
Each speaker shared their insights on how various art forms contribute to fostering mutual respect and understanding in society.
The evening concluded with a soulful music performance by Saif Samejo, the lead vocalist of the Pakistani Sufi folk band, The Sketches. His captivating melodies brought a serene end to the program, followed by a buffet dinner where guests had the opportunity to network and reflect on the inspiring evening.
