Franklin Graham Endorses Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence

February 4, 2025 – Washington, D.C.

Evangelist Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, has publicly voiced his support for Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination as the Director of National Intelligence.

Graham took to social media to express his endorsement ahead of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s scheduled vote on Gabbard’s confirmation.

“I’ve known Tulsi for many years and have a deep respect for her. I attended her confirmation hearing last week. I’ve always found her to be honest, incredibly smart, and a tough soldier,” Graham wrote. “Tulsi understands the world in which we live. She’s a great American who loves this country and will put America first.”

A Challenging Confirmation Process

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman and military veteran, has gained a reputation for her independent views, often challenging mainstream party positions. Her nomination has faced opposition from some lawmakers due to her increasingly bold stance on key issues.

Graham acknowledged the difficulty of her confirmation process, attributing it to her ideological shift in recent years. “The confirmation process has been challenging because of her more conservative views,” he noted.

The influential evangelical leader also called on his followers to pray for Gabbard. “Would you join me in praying that God will strengthen her, guide her, and give her favor?” he urged.

Support from Various Circles

Gabbard’s nomination has received support from various independent voices who view her as a principled leader with a strong grasp of national security.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is set to vote on her confirmation tomorrow, a key step in determining whether she will assume the top intelligence role in the U.S. government. As the debate continues, Graham’s endorsement highlights the growing support for Gabbard among faith-based and conservative communities.
