Jewish Organizations Congratulate Trump, See New Term as Opportunity to Tackle Antisemitism, Promote Unity

Jewish Organizations Respond to President-Elect Donald Trump’s Victory with Calls for Unity and Action on Key Issues

Following President-elect Donald Trump’s recent election victory, major Jewish organizations have offered congratulations and outlined their priorities for engaging with the new administration on issues of importance to Jewish communities, both in the United States and globally. The responses from these groups highlight their focus on combating antisemitism, supporting Israel, and addressing other pressing social concerns.

The World Jewish Congress (WJC) and the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) were among the first to congratulate Trump, expressing optimism about working with the new administration. WJC President Ronald S. Lauder stated that the American public had shown its commitment to democratic values. He emphasized the importance of having a strong ally in the White House during a period of rising global antisemitism, saying, “Together, we can work toward a safer and more inclusive future for all.”

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) also released a statement, with CEO Ted Deutch noting their non-partisan approach and commitment to advocating on critical policy areas under Trump’s administration. Deutch recalled effective collaborations with Trump’s previous administration, including advancements for Israel through the Abraham Accords and efforts to combat campus antisemitism. “We look forward to reengaging the incoming administration on these critical areas of work,” Deutch said.

The Reform Movement’s Religious Action Center (RAC) acknowledged Trump’s victory, calling for a presidency that serves all Americans and upholds democratic principles. RAC emphasized its commitment to social justice issues, including protecting vulnerable groups and advocating for a balanced approach to the US-Israel relationship.

Similarly, the Orthodox Union expressed hope for unity in addressing national challenges and reaffirmed its priorities, including combating antisemitism, fostering the US-Israel relationship, and defending religious liberty. The organization’s voter mobilization efforts led to record participation by Orthodox Jewish communities, and leaders said they would continue to advocate for the community’s values and interests.

The Jewish Federations of North America also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in their response. Eric Fingerhut, the organization’s President and CEO, highlighted their commitment to fighting antisemitism, strengthening community security, and supporting Israel. The organization plans to host a “Stand Together” event in Washington, D.C., aiming to set a shared agenda for the Jewish community in the year ahead.

The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) highlighted the widespread experiences of antisemitism faced by many in the Jewish community. CAM committed to working with leaders across the political spectrum to confront this threat and foster a future of security, dignity, and prosperity for all Americans.
